wheat sensitivity"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Non-celiac gluten sensitivity <\/strong>(NCGS) has been discussed since the early 200s.\nOriginally, it was thought to be a condition in which those affected experience symptoms from eating gluten without suffering from <a href=\"https:\/\/flexikon.doccheck.com\/de\/Z%C3%B6liakie#:~:text=1.-,Definition,intestinalen%20Unvertr%C3%A4glichkeit%20gegen%C3%BCber%20den%20Getreideeiwei%C3%9Fen.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">coeliac disease <\/a>or a wheat <sup>allergy1<\/sup>.\nIt is also sometimes referred to as non-celiac disease non-wheat allergy sensitivity.\nOther triggers have also been considered, not just gluten.\nFODMAPs, ATI or various protein components have been and are being discussed <sup>2-4<\/sup>.\nAnother hypothesis is that a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nahrungsmittel-intoleranz.com\/en\/leaky-gut-syndrome\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">weakened intestinal barrier<\/a> could play a <sup>role5<\/sup>.     <\/p>\n\n<p>The current guideline on celiac disease therefore recommends using the term <strong>non-celiac wheat sensitivity<\/strong> (NZWS) instead of non-celiac gluten sensitivity (NZGS) <sup>6.<\/sup><\/p>\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-was-lost-nun-die-beschwerden-aus\">So what triggers the complaints?<\/h1>\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignleft size-full is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/www.nahrungsmittel-intoleranz.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/NcihtZoeliakieWeizenSensitivitaet.jpg\" remains the subject of scientific debate.\nSo far, we only know that the symptoms are not triggered by a single substance such as gluten, FODMAPs, ATI or fructans.\nHowever, we also know that the one-sided avoidance of these substances is more bad than good for those affected.\nFor example, those on a low FODMAP diet may experience short-term improvement, but their quality of life is severely (and unnecessarily) restricted and the gut microbiome is <sup>impoverished7<\/sup>.\nIn the long term, this does more harm than good.    <\/p>\n\n<p>It has often been recommended to use old wheat varieties such as spelt, einkorn or emmer instead of highly cultivated wheat.\nHowever, there is no scientific evidence to support this <sup>recommendation8<\/sup>. <\/p>\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-diagnose-und-therapie\">Diagnosis and therapy<\/h1>\n\n<p>The diagnosis of NCGS is difficult as there is no specific test for it.\nIt is a diagnosis of exclusion, in which coeliac <sup>disease6<\/sup> and wheat allergy must first be ruled out.\nThe diagnosis is often made when symptoms improve on a gluten-free diet and reappear after the reintroduction of gluten-containing foods.\nIn addition, a food and symptom diary should be kept to &#8220;identify reproducible correlations [&#8230;]&#8221;<sup>6<\/sup>.   <\/p>\n\n<p>The recommendation for therapy is currently an individualized nutritional therapy.\nThis involves developing a symptom-oriented diet &#8220;with avoidance or reduction of individually relevant trigger factors &#8220;<sup>6<\/sup> that is individually tailored to the person affected.\nHowever, this therapy only works in cooperation with a state-recognized and well-trained nutritionist and is associated with costs.\nA strict
